Stef Vélez, smiling, with long dark hair

Hi, I'm Stef.

I’m a product designer based in Copenhagen, with three years of experience across agency, enterprise and freelance work. I work best on products where people are busy and clarity matters: scheduling tools, dashboards, booking systems, internal software.

Where I come from

Before design I spent years in operations: reception and logistics at Admiral Recruitment, facilities coordination at Lendlease, and workplace coordination at Ericsson in Sydney. I know what it’s like to be the person a tool has to work for at the busiest moment of the day.

My academic background is in BSc Psychology from the University of East London with a specialisation in Psychobiology. There, I did research in labs, including EEG and fMRI work, and continued research on a scholarship. That taught me to ask better questions before I design the first idea that comes to mind.

A keyboard, two computer mice, a clipboard with a printed data sheet and pen, and a white mug with circle designs are on the desk. In the background, there is a counter with a white EEG skull cap and other lab equipment.

How I work

I start with research: how do users find out about the tool/product. Then, I can jump into interviews, workshops and watching how people actually work. After that, I map the whole journey, prototype in Figma and test early, so mistakes are cheap. I work closely with engineers, and I’ve been one myself.

What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a product design role in Copenhagen, in an English-speaking team building tools people use to get work done. I’m open to different industries, as long as the problems are real and the users matter. I can start soon, and I’m happy to work from the office.

I have ran UX workshops, tested new Figma features and built the internal design system for our team presentations and Lo-Fi prototypes as innovation lead at webqem.

Beyond the screen

I ran UX workshops, tested new Figma features and built the internal design system for our team presentations and Lo-Fi prototypes as innovation lead at webqem.

Currently, I'm part of the Figma Copenhagen community and have attended design events like UX After Dark in Sydney. I also joined the Women Who Innovate program in 2024.
